The time has almost come for us to sit on a bike for eight hours a day from John O’Groats to Lands End in aid of Cancer Research UK. Riders are trickling into Inverness Airport in preparation for the off on Wednesday morning and between now and then no doubt there will be some nervousness, excitement, last minute preparations (de-hairing) and carb loading…
We’ve had some good weather in Scotland!
The Cool Bus support wagon is up in Scotland already where the weather has been a mixed bag of mostly rain, wind and even a little snow high up but hopefully this looks set to improve and ideally we’ll have a warm wind behind us… Realistically though, that is a dream that is unlikely to come true, especially for the most northerly days of the journey.
The Cool Bus goes nearly as fast…
Once again, a massive thanks to those who have donated already. Together with cash donations, Cool Bus have raised a total of around £3,500 and as a whole group we’re over half way to our grand total of £10,000! If you haven’t got round to it yet then DONATE HERE!
Thanks to Andy at Bikes & Bowls in Elgin for the bike service, we’re ready to go!
Don’t forget to check the route here and come and join us for a drive or a ride, especially a ride – we’d be so happy to see anyone who will come and break the wind for us for a day!
This is how dedicated we are to our End to End Challenge training regime… Please make our hypothermia worthwhile by heading here and donating - http://www.justgiving.com/coolbusendtoend
Wettest day of the year so far? Yep!
Incidentally, you can also donate £10 by text! Text CBUS69 £10 to 70070 to sponsor us. Every little helps with just over a month to go…
The donations are going up on our Cool Bus End to End Challenge page and rightly so! It’s been all blood, sweat and tears (of joy) here in Bourg-Saint-Maurice because we are back outdoors on our Orange bikes and the sun has been blessing us with snow-free trails (up to about 1200m on the sunny side) and dry roads. Looks like winter is on it’s way back however and a reasonable amount of snow is forecast for next week. Hmmm, back to the Turbo Trainer then!
Up above the snow line today. Not so easy but training never is! Les Arcs in the background.
Once again, we’d like to urge you to donate to Cancer Research because, quite simply, every day they keep so many people alive. Head to our Just Giving page here. Thanks.
These days it seems like everyone has been affected or knows someone who has been affected by cancer and this definitely includes us here at Cool Bus. So, we’ve decided to have a bash at raising money for Cancer Research UK. The work this charity does is amazing and undoubtedly will help all of us in some way throughout all of our lifetimes.
A big cause like this deserves a big effort so we are going to cycle the length of the UK from John O’Groats to Lands End in May of next year. Only six months to train for a ride of around 1000 miles with 14,000m of climbing and an incessant headwind! There are eight of us in the team all collecting for the same cause. In fact ex-Cool Bus driver Tim Morris, who has recently just beaten cancer himself, is heading the team of predominantly mountain bikers most of whom are simply dreading the thought of both concrete and Lycra alike!
We, Cool Bus, are helping out by donating a support vehicle for the whole team and the good people at Orange are supplying the two of us with bikes. Our page http://www.justgiving.com/coolbusendtoend is dedicated to those wishing to donate on behalf of Cool Bus represented by Rob Forbes and Bry Watt.
Although times are hard, we are no longer officially in recession so the only tight thing around here should be our Lycra. We know it’s a while off yet but GET DONATING, no matter how small. Thank you!
