Cool Bus on the Telly!

Last night we made our television debut in the first of a new series of BBC 3′s intriguingly named show Snow, Sex & Suspicious Parents!

CoolBus in Val

Check us out on TV!

We had the task of sneaking the suspicious parents out to Val d’Isere from Grenoble Airport where we dropped them off in order for them to start spying on their children whilst they are on a ski holiday in one of the world’s most famous ski resorts. Famous for it’s après, Val d’Isere is always going to be messy on a night out…

The program makes for pretty cringey yet amusing viewing and we think it’s safe to say that the parents did indeed have reason to be suspicious! Perhaps there is a lesson to be learnt for all of us who enjoy the après that little bit too much. Or, maybe not!

Another Day, Another Bike Ride…Training for the End to End!

The donations are going up on our Cool Bus End to End Challenge page and rightly so! It’s been all blood, sweat and tears (of joy) here in Bourg-Saint-Maurice because we are back outdoors on our Orange bikes and the sun has been blessing us with snow-free trails (up to about 1200m on the sunny side) and dry roads. Looks like winter is on it’s way back however and a reasonable amount of snow is forecast for next week. Hmmm, back to the Turbo Trainer then!

Snowy Mountains

Up above the snow line today. Not so easy but training never is! Les Arcs in the background.

Once again, we’d like to urge you to donate to Cancer Research because, quite simply, every day they keep so many people alive. Head to our Just Giving page here. Thanks.

No, Thank YOU!

We don’t want to boast or anything because that’s just not in our nature, but we have had so much positive feedback messages in January and February that we’ve had to write a whole blog post of them, with surely more to come!

Van in the sun

Sunset on a Cool Bus

That’s right, our drivers have been busy ferrying people around the French Alps day and night, getting customers to their destinations in plenty of time, in comfort and of course, style.

The following are quotes from various emails that have come through in the past two months. We will endeavour to bring you more soon!

Jen says:

“Just a note to say thanks for the airport transfers. The service was impeccable, friendly, helpful and bang on time – I’ll be recommending you to all the military groups heading out to the Alps.”

Elise Holmes says:

“Just wanted to say thank you for Lauren/Emily driving us to/from Ste. Foy over Christmas, both really nice girls, good drivers and good company! Think your service is really good, have recommended you to some friends who were also at Ste. Foy.”

Jessica Harris says:

“I have just returned from my skiing holiday in France, and would like to thank you for the great way we were treated and how lovely the drivers were (Dominic & Dan)! The transfer was quick and problem free, the drivers were both very helpful and kind and overall made the journey a lot less stressful for all of us. Just wanted to say thanks!

Will definitely use again and recommend to friends!”

Matt says:

“We were collected by one of your drivers today (Jelle) from Geneva airport and received fantastic service getting dropped right to our door. We are extremely happy we booked with Cool Bus and are looking forward to the rest of the transfers for our trip.”

Stefan says:

“I just wanted to say how grateful we were to have Alex as our driver last Saturday, and my parents really appreciated her excellent, calm driving style. If at all possible, it would be great if we could request her again for our return journey to Geneva on Saturday. Thanks!”

Stefan says again in a separate email:

“Just a quick note to say thanks for arranging Alex as our driver again on Saturday, and for your transfer service generally. It was a good experience all round.”

Martin & Tookie McAnallen say:

“Hi Rob and all the Coolbus people.

Just wanting to say thanks again for your service to us on 18th Jan from Geneva to La Rosiere. Due to a cancelled flight from London we “lucked out” as the Americans say and really had our own personal taxi to Cimes Blanches; so thanks for honouring that booking. You may not have been making too much from that trip so we appreciate that.

Thanks to our courier/taxi person Matt. Great company, questionable music tastes(only joking Matt) and facilitated stop in Bourg.”

Tom Tierney says:

“I wish to say how pleased i am with the service you provided for the price we paid. It was fast, on perfect time and your drivers are rad dudes. I will certainly be using you guys again.”

Ian says:

“Just a quick e-mail to say a huge ‘thank you’ for looking after us so well over the weekend.

Both Niall and Andy were great company, carried us with due care and attention to and from Val d’Isere and were a total credit to CoolBus. We wish you all well for the rest of the Season and see you in January next year.”

Paul says:

“Just wanted to say a quick thank you for organising our transfers to and from Geneva on the 7th and the 12th. It was all bang on time, comfortable and utterly seamless. A big thanks to your drivers Andy and Tim. Hope you have a great season.”

Lesley Pate says:

“Just wanted to say thanks to the Cool Bus and drivers Herve and Jelle (and Andy) for our Geneva airport transfers last week. One of our party forgot her phone charger so Herve took us into Annecy to get a new one.  He also arranged ski hire with Rental Republic so when we arrived we could get on with our weekend.  On the way back Jelle took us the scenic route around Lake Annecy as he and Andy provided us with lots of local information.

We will definitely use the Cool Bus again and as we hope to rent out our apartment in Bourg when we are not using it will recommend you to any customers we may have.  The service couldn’t have been better.”

Always Use Protection – The Cool Buses are Looking Sweet!

There is some brand new Sweet looking signage to be seen on the Cool Buses around the French Alps at the moment as we have recently struck up a friendship with the cool Norwegian brand Sweet Protection!

Cool Bus Sweet logos

Sweet new logos!

Established as we know them in 2000, Sweet have made a big impact on the action sports industry – notably in the sports of kayaking, skiing, snowboarding and most recently, mountain biking – with their range of top quality helmets, ‘Bearsuit’ pads, protective and technical clothing. Starting all that time ago with a snowboarding helmet that caught the eye of none other than Terje Håkonsen, Sweet now have a massive presence in the industry and an ever-growing team of sponsored athletes. Mountain biking is the newest discipline to be added to the list but it fits in perfectly – never has a full face helmet and body armour been more necessary! The Fixer helmet is pick of the bunch for us! Check out Sweet sponsored rider Makken Haugen wearing it at the Nine Knights contest here.

New Sweet logos!

Here at Cool Bus we have at some point in our lives, been heavily involved in all of the sports that Sweet represent and certainly on many occasions have appreciated and been thankful for good kit and a hard hat! Bourg-Saint-Maurice and the surrounding areas of the French Alps is a mecca for all of these sports too so who better to represent!

We look forward to being protected!

It seems that the French Alps isn’t the only place that is getting dumped on at the moment!

planes on the runway

This way we can be sure to try to accommodate all customers and make sure everyone’s ski holiday gets off to the best start possible!

We’re sure this goes without saying but it’s advisable to check with your airline and/or airport of departure before even leaving the house, just in case. At present (Friday at 5pm), the following airports are experiencing difficulties; East Midlands, Birmingham, Southampton, Gatwick, Heathrow, Cardiff, Bristol, London City, Leeds Bradford and Glasgow.
