Along with Les Menuires, Val Thorens is at the top of the most westerly of the 3 Valleys - Vallee de Belleville. With the village situated at 2300m and the highest run starting at 3200m, this is another resort that can boast an excellent snow record. With access to Meribel and Courchevel, the variety of terrain is huge. Val Thorens has its own snowboard park which is right near the town. Be aware that It can be very cold here at night and the drive up from Moutiers takes around 45 minutes on a good day.
Chambery Airport is situated just east of the city and services a large volume of passengers for its size. FlyBe, Snowjet and BMI have regular arrivals here. Chambery is also the nearest airport to the resorts in our area making for some very short transfers which are, for the large part, on motorways. The down side is that it is situated in a fairly narrow valley which can attract bad weather resulting in flight delays or diversions on a fairly regular basis.
