La Plagne is made up of many villages. Starting from the bottom - Plagne 1800, Plagne Centre, Aime La Plagne, Plagne Bellecote and Belle Plagne (all of which are of the purpose built, high rise variety) plus Soleil/Villages and Montchavin/Les Coches. The ski runs sprawl over a very large area and provide a huge variety of terrain. La Plagne has a reputation as an intermediate, family resort but this is far from the truth as it has plenty of harder runs and very good off-piste than can remain untracked for several days after a snowfall.
Lyon Airport is situated 15kms east of the city. There are numerous arrival and departure gates in the airport but the majority of UK flights, including all of Easyjet's, arrive at gate 10 (terminal 3). Whilst Lyon Airport is considerably further away than Geneva or Chambery the route is almost entirely on motorway making for fast transfer times. Having said that the motorway can get vey busy during French holidays with delays of 1-2 hours.
