LYON TRAIN TRANSFERS
Lyon Part-Dieu can be a great option for travel to the Alps as it is possible to book a direct ticket to hear from St. Pancras in London. The journey time is under 5 hours giving it a favourable comparison to flying for residents of the capital. Options are limited but if you are happy changing trains in Paris you will find 20+ departures every day. The Paris to Lyon Part-Dieu TGV takes less than 2 hours to cover a distance of nearly 400km.
The transfer time from here to ski resorts of the Tarentaise varies between two and two and a half hours. The Snow Carbon website offers great advice on booking trains to the Alps and a variety of routes are available via the SNCF website.
LA PLAGNE
La Plagne is made up of many villages. Starting from the bottom – Plagne 1800, Plagne Centre, Aime La Plagne, Plagne Bellecote and Belle Plagne (all of which are of the purpose built, high rise variety) plus Soleil/Villages and Montchavin/Les Coches.
The ski runs sprawl over a very large area and provide a huge variety of terrain. La Plagne has a reputation as an intermediate, family resort but although this is true, it also has plenty of harder runs and very good off-piste than can remain untracked for several days after a snowfall.
